If you prefer a light breakfast drink, then a banana smoothie is the way to go. Milk is mixed together with mashed banana to create a healthy drink. My preference is to use non-fat milk as I find it mixes in the blender to a thicker mixture – be warned though – do not over mix or it becomes too thick. Add a few drops of vanilla to flavour.
The best oatmeal mix is going to be the one that you match up with the things you like to eat. Some of my other favorites that come to mind are bananas, cranberries, walnuts, peanut butter, diced apples, pears, and dried apricots. Keep the textures, sweetness, and contrasts in mind as you design your own oatmeal recipes.
Really pay attention to the beverages you’re drinking. Many people think about their food intake and their exercise plans, but they don’t realize how important it is to pay close attention to all beverages. You drink consistently throughout your day, and these beverages need to be healthy. Plus, you need to be giving your body plenty of water in order for it to stay hydrated. Drink all-natural fruit juices as well.
Fill your kitchen pantry with good wholesome, healthy foods. Not junk foods such as cookies, pastries, pop tarts, and other tempting unhealthy treats. Maybe substitute junk foods with high fiber trail mixes, unsalted peanuts and nuts, dried fruits, wheat pastas, high fiber/low sugar cereals, and peanut butter.
#5: Don’t skip meals. There is consistent evidence that people who skip meals, especially breakfast, are more likely to be overweight. Eat a healthy breakfast within one hour of getting up. Avoid fast food breakfast meals – they are loaded with fat, sugar, sodium and calories. Pack healthy snacks like nuts, dried fruit and cheese sticks when you know it will be difficult to stop for food during the day.
When you eat 5 to 6 small meals a day, not only will your body stay energized but your metabolism levels will increase which will prep your body for weight loss. Of course, the mere addition of several snacks throughout the day will not take the place of exercise. We all know that you must keep the body active to keep it healthy. Instead of taking the elevator or escalator opt for the stairs. Instead of looking for the closest parking space, park your vehicle a bit farther and walk. Get your family involved and implement a walking routine. With the introduction of video games, there are many games on the market today that include activities that the entire family can enjoy while staying healthy.
Skipping breakfast, therefore, is simply not an option whatever the age of your child. It’s not even an option for you. If they skip breakfast, their first proper meal would be at lunchtime. This means that they would be running on empty for 18 hours! You couldn’t do it to your car, so why should you want to do it to your child?
